Commissioner Gordon Gets His Own Show!

Commissioner Gordon Gets His Own Show!

Fox picks up Warner Bros.' GOTHAM with The Mentalist creator, Bruno Heller, taking lead.  Deadline reports that we will see the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and some of Gotham City's most notorious villains.

In GOTHAM, James Gordon will be a detective for the GCPD and has yet to meet Batman, who will not be part of the series. (This could possibly mean that Bruce Wayne has not yet returned from his travels) No word yet if we'll also see Harvey Bullock or Renee Montoya or that hot-head John Blake (is there a YouTube video of all the times John Blake was called a hot-head in TDKR?).

Interesting to see Warner Bros. and Fox developing another DC show while developing the Flash show as an ARROW spinoff. While it would be kind of cool to see some intertwining of the series, it is highly doubtful. So if you were suddenly hoping for Kelly Hu's China White and the Triad to come through or for Gothamites to get hooked on Vertigo and James Gordon going after The Count played by Seth Gabel, it's unlikely at this point. You can still hope.

James Gordon is one of the most prominent mortals in the DC Universe and his back story has been touched upon in several books, most notably in the BatGirl and in Detective Comics. Hopefully GOTHAM delves into Gordon's marriage(s), little nut-job James Jr., and of course his relationship with daughter, Barbara.

It's also worth noting that 2003, The WB Network was close to putting out an adaptation of the GOTHAM CENTRAL comic book which would focused on some of GCPD's Renee Montoya, Crispus Allen, Josie Mac, Marcus Driver and Commissioner Gordon.. The plans were scrapped when Birds of Prey was cancelled and a moratorium was placed on producing anything Bat-related.

James Gordon was introduced in 1939 in the very first Batman comic. He has since been played by Gary Oldman in Nolan's Batman movies, Neil Hamilton in the 1960's Batman series, and Pat Hingle in Burton/Schumacher era.  Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston provided James Gordon's voice in the animated movie, Batman: Year One.

SUPER PAJAMAS! Geeky Sleepwear!

SUPER PAJAMAS! Geeky Sleepwear!

The summer is over. The temperatures are cooling down and as the song goes, "...the weather outside is weather." You should consider getting yourself some onesie pajaamas to keep you warm and cozy as you tear through GTA-V.  Hey, if you get invited to a Pajama Party, you don't want to be the jerk that came wearing sweats or flannel pajamas with your school's name down the leg. So when you sit around the living room with friends playing Mafia or Cards Against Humanity, look styling.

From WebUndies.com:
The onesies on this site average $38.00.  Not all of them have feet and if you're representing the Caped Crusader or the Man of Tomorrow, there's a detachable cape.

If you plan to explore the final frontier before going to bed, check out the officially licensed Star Trek Footed Pajamas available at JumpinJammers.com:

For the more discerning Star Fleet officer, check out the 2 piece pajamas from SuperHeroStuff.com:

Also available at SuperHeroStuff.com is the Doctor Who Fourth Doctor Robe:

Prefer that your jammies be bigger on the inside? Head over to BBCShop.com:

You guys, officially licensed Star Wars character onesies exist, but only in the UK. What's up with that? (Or if you're in the UK: Hell Yeah!) They also ship to most countries in the EU. I bet if you contact Red5.co.uk's customer service, they might be able to take care of you. Maybe your European pen-pal, Twitter friend, or buddy that's doing a study-abroad program can help you out.

And for the ladies who want something with more slink, WebUndies.com:

Here's a tip, if you get pajamas to emulate your favorite caped superhero, head over to a fabric store and buy a few yards of fleece or flannel to make an even bigger/better cape. It'll also double as a blanket and will look cooler than just tying a bed sheet around your neck. Just keep in mind that a decent hero/villain cape, when laid flat, is a half or quarter of a circle.

I hope some of this helped you find some awesome pajamas for you or a friend.

FOX Tuesdays.. hit or miss?

FOX Tuesdays.. hit or miss?

FOX Tuesday Lineup

I've finally got the chance to view FOX's two new shows, dads and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but unfortunately only one of these shows seems pretty decent. I had to watch dads a few times to try and understand the humor in the show.  Seth Green isn't bad but the show as a whole seems to be lacking something.  In my opinion, I think one item missing is a musical quip to transition between scenes.  It feels too.. quiet.  I understand that this is still a pilot, and limited money is involved, but to captivate an audience and reel them in, it just really didn't do it for me.  With it being too quiet, it doesn't really grab your attention and keep you focused.  If it sticks with this time slot, I don't believe it will do well against CBS's NCIS or ABC's Agents of Shield.  I think it might do better on a Wednesday.

I really do hope that the writing and budget improves.  I'm really curious to see how they can turn it around.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine with Andy Samberg is pretty good.  The pilot introduces many characters and provides a solid foundation for character development as well as hint at some back story.  Detective RightAllTheTime and Detective Terrible Detective deserve to be watched every week.  They have great chemistry and a unique dynamic together that shouldn't be dismissed.  Andy Samberg does a great job portraying a hot shot detective with swagger (Do people still say that?).  This show adds something that FOX has been missing.  It seems like with all of these reality shows, networks forget that we like to laugh and enjoy a good comedy.

VROOM VROOM! Need For Speed and FAST-7 Updates!

VROOM VROOM! Need For Speed and FAST-7 Updates!

In case you're getting tired of superhero movies, 2014 has a pair of car movies to get your adrenaline going. We can't promise they'll make you want to do donuts in the parking lot, but the movies do look promising.

Since the "Ozymandias" episode of Breaking Bad is still fresh in our minds (btw, holy shit!), let's start with NEED FOR SPEED! (Amphetamine pun intended)

Everyone favorite meth-hocking, little scamp, Aaron Paul stars in the film adaptation of EA's NEED FOR SPEED. Paul plays Tobey Marshall, a street racer out to clear his name and avenge the death of his friend after an illegal car race goes wrong.

Here are two official images that have just been released by Dreamworks:

Paul says 'This set was different than anything I've been on...You're walking through a very thick cloud of testosterone.''
Worried that it sounds like a Fast&Furious movie rip? The two-time Emmy award winning actor says, "'It's really a throwback to the Steve McQueen era of car movies. I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised.''

Need For Speed is directed by Act of Valor's Scott Waugh and also stars Dakota Johnson, Dominic Cooper, Kid Cudi, and Michael Keaton. NEED FOR SPEED is set to hit theaters on March 14, 2014.

Need for Speed marks an exciting return to the great car culture films of the 1960s and ’70s, tapping into what makes the American myth of the open road so appealing. The story chronicles a near-impossible cross-country journey for our heroes—one that begins as a mission for revenge, but proves to be one of redemption.

Oh and THAT other car movie franchise?

FAST 6 Promotional Poster

Lucas Black has reportedly signed on to returned to the role of Sean Boswell from The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift. Deadline reports that not only has he signed on Fast-7, but he has also signed 8 and 9, too. [Yeah guys. There's plans for a total of 9 movies] Black's character hadn't been brought up since the 2006 movie because [Kinda-SPOILER ALERT] it turns out the events of ...Tokyo Drift happened after Fast-6

FAST-7 already boasts a loaded cast. Confirmed to return to are Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
New additions to the cast include: Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, Djimon Hounsou, Tony Jaa, Nathalie Emmanuel, and reigning UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion, Ronda Rousey.

FAST-7 is currently in production. In case you haven't heard, Justin Lin is not directing. James Wan, director of Insidious, Insidious: Chapter 2, and The Conjouring is behind the wheel of this one. This movie will be in theaters July 11th, 2014.

ROBOCOP - First Trailer!

ROBOCOP - First Trailer!

"Dead or alive, you're coming with me!"

Sony and Columbia Pictures have released the first trailer of 1987's ROBOCOP and will hit theaters in February.

This film stars Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) as Alex Murphy/Robocop, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, and Jackie Earle Haley. The upcoming reboot was directed by Jose Padilha who also directed 2007's Elite Squad and its sequel Elite Squad: The Enemy Within.

In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years – and it’s meant billions for OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.

This film is rated PG-13 and will hit theaters February 7th, 2013.

If you're a fan of the original movie or a completest and you've watched all 3 movies + the TV series + the tv movies + cartoons + read the comic books, you can see several differences in characters and plot:
  • Murphy's partner is now Jack Lewis rather than Anne Lewis
  • Murphy was blown up rather than obliterated by bullets
  • Murphy's family knows he's Robocop
  • No mention of hologram chick, Diana Powers
BUT DON'T WORRY! ED-209 is still in the movie! Let's see if it learned how to deal with stairs in the past 25 years.

Let's see how much the reboot is to Paul Verhoeven's American Jesus metaphor. No. Not kidding. He considers his 1987 movie a Jesus metaphor.

In A New Light: Geeky Characters Like You've Never Seen Them Before

In A New Light: Geeky Characters Like You've Never Seen Them Before

I Can't Believe It's Not Wolverine!

This tasty bust of our favorite clawed bad ass can be found at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It's part of their Butter Sculpting Exhibit. Hugh Jackman himself applauded the effort stating on his instagram account, "You know you've made it when.."

Steampunk Optimus

This amazing steampunk rendition of the fearless leader of the Autobots was made by Encline Designs. They do amazing Airbrush designs as well as figures and models such as the awesome work you see above and much more!

Godzilla vs. The Death Star?

This is more of something I would love to see happen than a new rendition of an old character. Could Godzilla have saved Alderaan from the Death Star's superlaser? Creator Jagal surely thinks so! Hey, they're making a Batman and Superman team-up movie, why can't Godzilla and Star Wars do the same!

All 150 had to come from somewhere!

Mew is the first Pokemon, the common ancestor of all 150 (and now 650 with the current gen). Reddit user Hemlockdalise created Mew from all the Pokemon that he helped create. It all had to start somewhere and really puts the phrase, "Out of Many, One" into perspective. Atleast in the Pokemon sense! He also has this print for sale as a poster, t-shirt, etc if you really dig it!

Breaking Bad Lego

Bummed that Breaking Bad is finishing it's run? Well now you can create your own adventures with this awesome (yet quite pricey) Breaking Bad superlab playset! As of this posting it's out-of-stock, but I'm sure with the popularity of the show, it'll come back in stock soon! Head over to Citizen Brick's site to check out the rest of the pictures in all of their meth making glory!

The Walking Dead Take New York! Obstacle Course Run at the Intrepid!

The Walking Dead Take New York! Obstacle Course Run at the Intrepid!

Just in time for New York Comic Con and the Halloween season, registration is now open for The Walking Dead Escape - New York City.  This SDCC fan-favorite event comes to New York City on Saturday, October 12th, at the USS Intrepid on Pier 86.

Participants can register as SURVIVORS or as WALKERS and must be at least 14 years old.  Walkers will receive professional make-up and training before their shift. Yes, you have to train to be (un)dead.

Survivors can expect to run, jump, climb, slide, and crawl through the "Chain Link Megazone," "Herd Highway," "Hospital Hell," "The Prison Gauntlet," "The Governor's Gladiators," until they make it to the Quarantine Zone. Average time of completion is estimated to be 35-45 minutes. And if you're not exactly a gym-class star, don't worry - there will also be an "easier route" for participants with limited physical abilities.

AMC's The Walking Dead returns to your television machine on Sunday, October 13th, at 9pm EST.
Stars from the show have not been confirmed on New York Comic Con's website, but have appeared every year since the show's premier. (Also, it'd be pretty shitty if they didn't come this year since the NYCC passes are TWD themed again)

For more info on The Walking Dead Escape event, go to: http://www.thewalkingdeadescape.com/nyc-intrepid.html
