Eliza Dushku and Adam Rayner are set to star in an American version/remake of THE SAINT Adam Rayner will play Simon Templar, a professional thief with a heart of gold. Between various acts of thievery and stealing from the rich and giving to the needy, Simon Templay will try to woo his on-again-off-again partner in crime, Patricia Holm played by Eliza Dushku.
Dusku is known for playing strong female characters like Echo in Joss Whedon's DOLLHOUSE, Faith in Whedon's Buffy, The Vampire Slayer, and Tru Davies in Tru Calling. Adam Rayner might be an unfamiliar name, but he recently starred in Dragon Age: Redemption miniseries with Felicia Day and several series in the UK including Hunted and Mistress.
Production began on Friday and if you follow Eliza Dushku on Twitter and Instagram, then you've seen pictures of her getting into fighting shape.
This is being filmed as a TV movie/backdoor pilot. There are currently no networks attached and this is being independently produced by executive producer Brad Krevoy's company MCPA. Roger Moore, who played Simon Templar in the 1960s UK series, has been brought on to co-produce alongside Geoffrey Moore, Lulu Moore, and Louisa Macdonald. No word on an involvement with Val Kilmer who played Simon Templar in the 1997 movie.
