Okay, TIME TO GET DOWN TO BIZNIZZ!!
How in the EFF do we pull off these leggings stylishly? Especially those of us who are not lucky enough to be natural thin-mints?! Imma tell you how. It'll be as simple as 1-2-3.
The first best example is if you scroll up and have another look at the chick wearing the Japanese Fighter leggings. THAT is the quintessential stylish way to wear your geek leggings. Bear with me and I'll get to the part about how the curvier among us can pull it off.
No. 1, wear great shoes!!!
Boots are especially geek friendly and really lend themselves to leggings. They can be the mega trendy kinds like the platforms in the image, or combat boots. STAY away from sneakers unless they are classic converse for the leggings from Black Milk. Ballet flats and gladiators (think strappy sandals that channel Wonder Woman or, err, the Gladiator) also work. For a night look, take the same outfit and pair it with your favorite complimentary heels. The leggings from We Love Fine, are more playful and casual, so you can wear cute sneakers, the hidden wedge heel high-tops, or even flip flops in a complementary color with those; everything else also applies. So, to recap, EXPRESS YO' SELF with your shoes when wearing these leggings. Don't cop out and just wear whatever.
No. 2, wear a simple, loose, longish top!!
Picking a solid black, grey, navy, or white is the fail-safe way to go. The We Love Fine leggings can also pair well with some pastels and natural tones. Tops can be jersey, t-shirt material, blousey, sheer, leathery, or silky, but just keep it loose and hangy! Tank top, short-sleeeved, long-sleeve: take your pick! Just make sure to pick a top that is at a minimum just past your butt and your crotch; stressing all day about a legging-wedgie or camel-toe is not worth it. Plus, ya want to leave a little something to the imagination. Don't have anything super busy on top to clash with the leggings. Give the eyes a rest up-there and let the leggings to their magic. You can also wear a big loose cable-knit sweater in a solid color. Yeah, they are big, but the weight of the cable-knit helps it hang in various places so it's still appealing. If it's wintery, pair a longish loose top with a leather jacket, blazer, cardigan (buttoned sweater), or casual sports coat. Basically, it's kinda like a visual math: TIGHT SMOOTH (leggings) + LOOSE HANGY (top) = VISUALLY APPEALING. If you can manage to find one, some older washed-out looking sweaters and hoodies can also be worn with them; a faded black or grey is probably the safest bet. Again, keep 'em nice and big. Newer ones will still be too fluffy and make you look like an ice-cream cone, so remember, they need to be soft and hangy. For a night look, you can pick tops that are metallic or even sequined; just remember to pick one that's loose and hangy! You can keep it edgy by pairing with a leather jacket if you wish.
No. 3, how to pull it off in any size: pick the right size and style top for your shape.
Here are some photos to get a few ideas from. But when you do it, you'll take it to the next level with geekness!!
If you are busty, pick a v-neck or a scoop-neck to break up the upper-half; this is non-negotioable. If it's a button up top, leave the top few buttons open!! If you, like me, struggle with saddle-bags, find a length long enough to cover up the more tender thigh areas. Also, selecting a bra that helps the ladies sit wider across your chest rather than perked up in the middle helps to balance out the top and the bottom. If you have tiny boobies, a button-up shirt buttoned up to the collar should help the little ladies show up better. The great thing about this look is that you can pick flowy or hangy tops that hide that belly roll, the hip bump, and the saddle bags. It's awesome!! When I wear leggings, I purposefully pick shirts that are waaaay more sizes up than I usually wear. If the shirt flares out a little over the thighs, girl, don't stress!!! Just rock it!!! That is actually not a big deal; what makes a big difference over all is how the neck/décolletage area looks and the hang from that.

Replace with geeky leggings!
These simple denim tops would also work with geeky leggings.
Imagine the left one with the R2-D2 & C-3P0 ones?? WIN.
Even the shoes on that one would work!!
These tops would totally work. Just buy a few sizes up to get the right length!
Perfect for the We Love Fine leggings.
I love these looks!! Both examples of the boots are favorites for me.
The one on the right would look awesome with any of the Middle Earth ones.
I LOVE the dress on the left for leggings. Just swap out the shoes.
The look on the right also totally suits leggings!! So many of them would go with it!!
The chick in the last couple of pictures runs "Girl with Curves"; I highly recommend following her on your choice of Tumblr, Flickr, Facebook, or Pinterest for inspiring looks!! I also recommend liking The Shopist on Facebook for style tips, sale updates, and where to find cool affordable clothes. Heck, you can hire her for specialized assistance! I'm also totally happy to field your geek fashion questions on twitter, too!!
Even if you spend big on the leggings and shoes, you can always find great tops at the thrift-store. Marshall's or Ross will probably have good tops as well, just dig through the racks! Be bold and just do it! You'll find you will get used to looking amazing. AND this look is super comfortable!! Be nice to you, geek out in style, and TREAT YO' SELF!!
